Open Source Call Control You don’t need to understand telecomms signalling protocols, code in back end compiled languages or use commercial CPassS platforms to build solutions that integrate phone calling.
It is possible to build telecommunications functionality using web development tools and open source components. Software like Asterisk ARI and Drachtio allow us to interact with communication flows using familiar asynch javascript within Node.js and this workshop will show how from first principles.
Technology We will be working with some canned, hosted instances of Asterisk and Drachtio, pre-provided with trunks and DDIs to form a working infrastructure. You will be shown how the infrastructure works, given some skeleton open source repos within a node framework, and work together in teams to implement some real world interactions between this telecomms infrastructure and other web services.
Who should attend? Javascript developers who currently know nothing about telecomms but want build phone integrations with other web services.
Telecomms folks who want to learn how to build things with Javascript.
People with ideas who want to challenge either of the above.
Curious bystanders.
