You'll build a small webRTC based 'droid and race it around a course using it's camera and your smartphone. We provide a basic UI, you'll get time to enhance that UI/UX on your drone to improve driveability etc. We will have a UX and coding experts on hand to help you.
You may think webRTC is only for video conference calls from laptops. This fun hands-on workshop aims to show you what else webRTC can do. Each team will build a small robot from a kit of parts. On it you'll run a webRTC stack with a raspberry-pi sending H264 to your smartphone. You'll be given access to the source of the UX and motor control code, so you can customize the experience for better driveability, faster QR code scanning, or even semi-autonomous driving ! Two prizes will be awarded:
for the fastest time to scan all the QRs that are spread around the room,
for the 'most improved' UX , as judged by our UX expert.
You'll come away having learned about the webRTC video, datachannel and smartphone support - but also having had some fun!
